Summer Field Trip!

How do you juggle having your kids out of school for the summer and getting your basic to-do list completed? You put the two together and do your "shopping" at the farmers' market! This is the best time of year to venture away from your grocery store to your local farmers' market to buy the freshest local produce you can find.

You can work up a shopping list and have your kids do the shopping for you. They can practice their math skills buy paying for your fruits and vegetables and figuring out what the change will be. It is amazing how children will eat more fruits and vegetables if they helped pick them out. You may even be able to get them to try an avocado or a new melon this summer!

Another idea for practicing math. let the kids figure out the tip when you are out to eat. Good practice for decimal points!
