School (will be) Out for Summer!

I know my kids will love this idea from Family Fun magazine that I found on the Tip Junkie Blog.

I have three children… the oldest two children, 13 and 10, cannot wait for school (and the homework and tests) to end.

Unfortunately, my youngest child, 7, is nervous about school ending and the long, unstructured days of summer. He does not want to leave the comfort of his school with his many friends and wonderful teachers.

After finding this great idea, I know what I need to do for him. I am going to throw a SURPRISE Welcome Summer Party on his last afternoon of school.

I am going to hang a banner, make these ice cream treats , and have a party. I think he will be thrilled and hopefully, will start the summer with a smile on his face.

I would love to hear if you have any ideas of how you ease the transition to summer for your children. I think I may need help this year!

That is such a great idea! I really appreciate hearing that other kids have this "issue"! I felt that from my littlest one, too. I wonder if he envies his older brother going off to camp, even though he knows he doesn't want to leave home yet!

Signed Wish there were a camp for moms!

If you are a stay at home mom and other mothers in your sons class are stay at home moms....try having a 'WELCOME WEDNESDAY' day for your children. Plan for each mom to take a wednesday from 9-12am, plan activities and have a healthy snack during that time. This way it give the moms at least 3 hours to do whatever and 3 hours your son can plan and reunite with his classmates.

I did this with my daughter and she did everything from decorating their own cupcakes to playing in the water slide to making something special to take home to mom or dad. It can be as inexpensive as you want it to be. Just make sure there are no food alergies with the other children.

If you have 3 other good school friends, this means you are responsible for 3 times during the summer.....and 3 times to have time to yourself. It is also the perfect number of children to be responsible for. Have a good summer with your son.....
