"Hoo" Ever Stays In Bed, Gets A Treat!

As a first time expectant mother (due 7/25!) I tend to stop and listen to conversations regarding children and parenting. Many of my co-workers have young children, so I love listing to the joys (and trials) of raising these amazing little people!

Recently a few women in my office have been discussing the nighttime routine, the tips and tricks, and challenges involved. This time, I actually had something to contribute because of fun tip that my sister swears by. I have two nieces, Julia 3.5 (that's Julia in her Hatley owl pj's) and Elise 1.5. They both go to bed go to bed fairly easily, however, staying in bed is the challenge. Here's what she came up with: Julia's Bedtime Sticker Chart.

Julia LOVES stickers so this is fun for her. If she gets through the night without calling for mommy and daddy, or getting out of bed, she gets to choose a fun sticker and stick it to her chart. 5 successful nights in a row and she gets a small gift! Obviously, there are exceptions to this due to bad dreams, thunderstorms, and being sick, etc. but you get the idea.....

You don't need to limit this to sleep. Try an eating chart, behavior chart, or potty training chart. Share your ideas with us and let us know what works for you!

I just started the same sleep chart for my 2 year old... she is an early riser and we are trying to get her to stay in bed a little later (meaning until around 6AM) So far, she has managed 2 stickers in 7 days, but we will keep working on it!
